  3.     View / Help Screens
  4.  
  5.         The following section pertains to the operation of the view
  6.         windows used for the Help function as well as the View File
  7.         selection in the Files menu.
  8.  
  9.         Once active, you can scroll around the help file much like an
  10.         editor. UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, HOME, END, PGUP, PGDN, Ctrl-PGUP,
  11.         Ctrl-PGDN allow you to move around the file. If the file is
  12.         wider than the help window you can scroll horizontally as well
  13.         as vertically. The buttons operate as follows.

  15.        Search   - [S] pulls up a dialog to allow you to search for a
  16.                       specific word or phrase.

  29.         Repeat   - [R] finds the next occurrence specified by Search.
  30.         <<<      - [<] key moves to the previous keyword.
  31.         >>>      - [>] moves to the next keyword.
  32.         Previous - [P] moves to the previously active keyword.
  33.         Index    - [I] moves to the original starting place.
  34.         Quit     - [Q] quits the help program.

  36.         If you are using a mouse, clicking on the button, sliders, close
  37.         box,(upper left corner), or keyword will activate the function.
  38.  
  39.         To move to a keyword, you can use the tab keys or cursor keys to
  40.         move to the desired word. The keyword will highlight. Pressing
  41.         enter or double clicking on this word will take you to
  42.         additional information on this topic. Pressing 'P' (previous)
  43.         will take you back one level.
  44.  
  45.         To search for a specific word/phrase, press 'S' or click on
  46.         Search. This pulls up a dialog box. To enter the word/phrase,
  47.         press 'S' again or click on the string following the word
  48.         Search. Type in the word/phrase and press 'O' or click on OK.
  49.         The default search will search forward from the current cursor
  50.         location. The direction and scope can be changed by clicking on
  51.         the appropriate check box or pressing the desired hot-key.

  54.            Forward  - [Alt-F] sets the search direction to forward.
  55.            Backward - [Alt-B] sets the search direction to backwards.
  56.            From Csr - [Alt-R] search from current cursor position.
  57.            Global   - [Alt-G] search from start of file.
  58.            Case     - [Alt-C] if off, case is ignored.
  59.            Quit     - [Alt-Q] abort the current search dialog.
  60.            OK       - [Alt-O] accept parameters and find first word.

  62.         User Defined Help Files
  63.  
  64.            XPCOM allows the user to define ten individual help files.
  65.            These files are named XPCOM.001 through XPCOM.010. These file
  66.            must be located in the program 'help' directory.
  67.  
  68.            The user help files may be edited using any standard ASCII
  69.            text editor. Normal word processors normally store data in a
  70.            non ASCII format. DOS 5.0 EDIT.COM program is a good example
  71.            of an ASCII editor. Check on your local BBS system, most
  72.            telephone BBS systems contain many ASCII editors. These can
  73.            also be called directly from XPCOM. See the section on the
  74.            Editor setup located in the Setup Main Menu option.

  76.            The user defined help files may be invoked by pressing Shift
  77.            and function key 1 (XPCOM.001) through 10 (XPCOM.010).

  79.      Using The File Selector
  80.  
  81.           The file selector is used for all disk related activities.

  104.         Path
  105.  
  106.             The path parameter allows the user to type in the wanted
  107.             path name for the file. This uses the same format as the
  108.             standard DOS commands. To activate this field type "P" or
  109.             use a Mouse or the TAB key to move to this position.

  111.             The field may be cleared by pressing Ctrl-Y . After
  112.             entering the path name press the return key.
  113.  
  114.         Selecting Files
  115.  
  116.             Files may be selected by using either the cursor keys or a
  117.             mouse.

  119.         Moving Back one Directory
  120.  
  121.             Note all directory entries are bracketed with "<DIRECTORY>".

  123.           To move back one directory select the
  124.                < ..      >

  126.                entry and double click the Left mouse button or press the
  127.                Enter key. This will move back one directory.

  129.           Moving Forward one Directory
  130.  
  131.                To move forward select the desired entry,
  132.                "<desired-directory>", and press the Enter key or double
  133.                click the Left mouse key.

  135.           Selecting a File
  136.  
  137.                There are two methods available to select a file.
  138.  
  139.           Cursor Keys / Mouse
  140.  
  141.                Using the cursor keys select the desired file followed by
  142.                the "O" (Ok) key. This will complete the operation.
  143.  
  144.                To use the mouse place the cursor on the scroll bars and
  145.                hold the left mouse button until the desired file
  146.                appears. To complete the operation , double click on the
  147.                file.
  148.  
  149.           Direct Entry
  150.  
  151.                The second method is to directly type in the file name.
  152.                This is accomplished by press the "F" key. At this point
  153.                cursor should be flashing on the input line under the
  154.                "File Name" caption. Type the "filename.ext" and press
  155.                the Enter key to complete the operation.

  158.           Sorting  Parameters
  159.  
  160.                The user can select the method that the files are sorted
  161.                and displayed. There are four (4) options for sorting.
  162.                These are listed below.
  163.  
  164.                         Name
  165.                         Extension
  166.                         Size
  167.                         Date / Time
  168.  
  169.                To select a sorting method press the first letter of that
  170.                method. Example, to select sorting by Date / Time press
  171.                the "D" key.

  173.           Canceling the File Selector
  174.  
  175.                To cancel the file selector press either the 'ESC' key or
  176.                press the 'C' key. At this point the file selector will
  177.                be removed from the screen.
